GLOBAL: Dave & Buster’s Entertainment Inc. purchased family entertainment company Main Event for $835 million, including debt. When the all-cash deal—which is expected to close later this year—is complete, main event chief executive officer Chris Morris will take over Kevin Sheehan's role as CEO of Dave & Buster’s. Until then, each brand will continue operating separately.
NATIONAL: SiriusXM Canada announced a new multi-year partnership with Live Nation Canada to become the entertainment company's official music streaming partner. The deal will shine a spotlight on live music and comedy events across the country throughout 2022 and beyond with SiriusXM's on-site perks, activations, broadcasts and more. To celebrate the partnership, Canadian rock band Alexisonfire will perform at HISTORY, Live Nation Canada's newest entertainment venue, located in Toronto, on April 27.
CALGARY: Calgary native Danielle Letourneau, one of the greatest squash players in the world, will return to her hometown to headline the Canadian Open squash event at Bow Valley Square. She will compete at the Oxford Properties Canadian Open, a Professional Squash Association women’s 30k and men’s 10k tour event. Letourneau is currently ranked No. 20 in the world for the sport and has been vocal about her hopes to climb into the top 10.
TORONTO: Monday Girl, the largest network for supporting professional women in Canada, is hosting its annual Monday Girl Summit at 1 Hotel Toronto on April 23 from 12-5 p.m. Panel discussions will touch on topics such as women in business and marketing. Speakers include the likes of NUDESTIX co-founder Taylor Frankel, Indigo’s PR and influencer marketing manager Melissa Perri, Microsoft Canada’s consumer and modern work PR lead Cara Inglis and more. Tickets are $224.87 and include hors d'oeuvres, two alcoholic beverages, reserved seating, a gift bag and access to photo booths and brand activations.
VANCOUVER: Meowfest, Canada's biggest cat party, has announced that it will return to Vancouver for its 2022 edition on Aug. 20. The festival will feature programming full of cat-themed activities, including a marketplace-style shopping center, kittens adoptable on-site, food trucks, a cat-themed beverage garden and more. Taking place at the Rocky Mountaineer Station, Meowfest was designed to bring the community together, bring awareness to cat rescue and adoption and raise funds for cat-centered organizations.
