NATIONAL: London-based CloserStill Media—which runs more than 70 exhibitions across learning, healthcare, technology, and the veterinary sector—has announced Yancy Weinrich as the brand’s president of North America. In her new position, Weinrich will spearhead major expansion and high-growth acquisitions across multiple industry portfolios, as CloserStill Media sets its sights on rapid growth over the next two years. Weinrich brings about two decades of experience to the role, previously serving as the chief growth officer of RX (formerly Reed Exhibitions).
LAS VEGAS: The Caesars Foundation—a private organization funded by Caesars Entertainment resorts, and the entity through which the brand funds its nonprofit programs—has donated more than $3.3 million to nonprofits throughout the country. The 2022 recipients include, for the first time, the Boys & Girls Club of America, which aims to help young people reach their full potential as productive, responsible citizens with bright futures. For the 20th consecutive year, the Caesars Foundation has also donated to Meals on Wheels, which focuses on addressing hunger and isolation in senior communities throughout America. Other recipients include long-time Caesars Foundation partner the Clean the World Foundation, plus the International Center for Responsible Gaming, the National Park Trust, the Public Education Foundation, and more.
LOS ANGELES: Steaming service Peacock is hosting House of Peacock, an immersive fashion house–themed pop-up, at The Grove May 7-30, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Each day of the event, attendees will experience the reimagined pop-up shop through the lens of some of Peacock’s popular series, including Bel-Air, Girls5eva, Wolf Like Me, and more. Each week, signature items from different artists will be available for free, and guests can enjoy customizable screen printing, embroidery, and airbrush on some of the latest trending fashion pieces. Talent from Peacock’s shows are also expected to make surprise appearances.
NEW YORK: Award-winning Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen is partnering with leading digital fashion brand Blueberry Entertainment for a fundraising event in the metaverse. Kicking off May 13, digital versions of the musical’s iconic blue-striped polo shirt will be available for purchase on Roblox, with 100% of the proceeds going to the nonprofit organization Child Mind Institute in honor of May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The Broadway show has also partnered with The Bored Ape Yacht Club, which is part of a collection of 10,000 NFTs, and two Bored Apes will be dressed in the same polo shirt. Meanwhile, the original shirt worn by the lead in Dear Evan Hansen is now part of The Smithsonian’s permanent collection.
SAN ANTONIO: Leading producer of event experiences ASM Global, in partnership with its culinary division SAVOR, has opened the Tech Port Center + Arena in San Antonio. Designed as the most technologically advanced lifestyle entertainment venue in the world, the center is an expansive sports arena, food hall, museum, conference, and social event space with a maximum capacity of 3,300. It also aims to be a hub for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). With ASM Global’s SAVOR division, an immersive, on-site culinary concept will include local favorites, including Earl Abel’s, The Big Bib BBQ, The Cherrity Bar, and more. The venue has also introduced a self-ordering bar with oversize TV monitors and facial recognition technology.
