BANFF: Get Naked Banff! takes place July 23 from 1-5 p.m. at Lake Louise in Banff National Park. Designed to promote nude recreation and inspired by Naked Hiking Day, the event will host a slew of clothing-optional activities. Attendees are asked to bring everything they may need for the day, including water, food, sunblock, and towels. Get Naked Banff! encourages humans of all body types, sizes, sexualities, genders, “and anybody unoffended by the human body,” according to the event’s website, to attend.
EDMONTON: After a two-year, COVID-induced hiatus, the Edmonton Comics & Entertainment Expo returns Sept. 16-18 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. The three-day experience for comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming fans will feature cosplay costume spectacles, gaming booths, fan meetups, and more. Matthew Lewis, known for playing Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films, will be this year’s celebrity guest. Additional star guests include Ming-Na Wen of The Mandalorian and Mulan; Michael Rooker of Guardians and the Galaxy; and Tom Welling, who appeared in Smallville and Batwoman. Single- and four-day passes, deluxe, and premium packages are available on Edmonton Expo’s website.
TORONTO: Rolling Loud is coming to Toronto’s Ontario Place Sept. 9-11 for a three-day, hip-hop-filled lineup. Up to 50,000 attendees per day will see headliners Dave, Future, and Wizkid, plus Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Roddy Ricch, as well as hometown artists Belly, Roy Woods, NAV, and Pressa. Tickets are available on Rolling Loud’s website, starting at $369 for a Tier 2, general admission pass. A “Vintage Merch Mystery Box” is also available for purchase for $55 and contains five collectible items from past shows.
VANCOUVER: A LEGO-inspired bar will pop up in Vancouver May 13-14 on Granville Street. Dubbed the Brick Bar, more than a million blocks will be designed to be the ultimate nostalgic experience, complete with Instagram-worthy photo ops, a local DJ, a ping-pong table made of 22,500 bricks, and prizes to be won for the best builders. Tickets are available from $22, and after 6 p.m., the venue turns into an adults-only space.
Planted Expo Vancouver, the country’s largest plant-based event, takes place at the Vancouver Convention Centre West June 4-5. Over the course of the weekend, more than 200 vegan businesses will be under one roof with programming that includes panel discussions, inspirational speakers, vegan vendors, and more. Kids can attend free, and tickets are available on Showpass for $20 for adults or $15 for youth and seniors.
