GLOBAL: Global entertainment company Falcon's Beyond Global LLC has unveiled a signature retail, dining, and entertainment destination—Falcon’s Central—located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The location will be home to four brick-and-mortar, location-based entertainment venues. Curiosity Playground is an experiential education destination that engages guests with intellectual properties (IPs) by seamlessly integrating family friendly media based on popular PBS Kids shows. Additionally, GameHub is a high-energy gastropub and arcade, StoryHub is a merchandise and apparel shop, and VQuarium is a virtual experience that teaches attendees about the planet.
CALGARY: The Okotoks Parade and Children’s Festival will be a day full of family friendly events and activities on June 18 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Held annually in June, Elizabeth Street will be filled with bands, floats, dancers, horses, and fire trucks. This year’s parade theme is “#OkotoksStrongerTogether,” and the children’s festival is themed “Super Heroes.” The event is free to attend.
TORONTO: The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery has debuted its summer 2022 exhibitions, which include solo displays by Paulo Nazareth and Hiwa K. and a group exhibition titled BREATHLESS. There will also be public sculptures by Sandra Brewster and Paulo Nazareth on Toronto’s waterfront. The summer lineup is designed to spark conversations on global displacement, the environment, and structural inequalities.
Toronto Botanical Garden will host its annual garden tour, dubbed “Through the Garden Gate,” for the first time in two years. Presented by Cullen’s Foods, the tour—taking place June 11-12 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.—will guide guests through mid-Toronto’s Wychwood neighborhood, known for its architecture, artistic residents, and breathtaking gardens. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit more than 15 residential gardens of varying sizes and themes, including pollinator plots, native and naturalistic plantings, cottage-style grounds, and more. Tickets are available on Toronto Botanical Garden’s website starting at $45 for a one-day pass.
VANCOUVER: On May 25, Clearly Eyewear will host an event at the Gathering Place Community Centre to assist attendees in finding their perfect pair of glasses. Clearly Eyewear employees will also place glasses orders for the guests who attend. The event is taking place as part of the Vancouver-based specs brand’s mission to eliminate poor vision and commitment to making eyewear and vision care both affordable and accessible.
