CANADA: The Calgary Stampede’s Show Lineup, SugarLand Festival in Toronto, the 2022 Vancouver International Children’s Festival, and More

CALGARY: The Calgary Stampede, an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival, is being held July 8-17 this year. Country music artist Dean Brody is the headlining performer of the 2022 Grandstand Show, which has been titled “Amplified.” Also performing are the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede, Loop Rawlins, Circus Concepts, and Shawnee Kish. Amplified will close out its programming with a fireworks finale.

TORONTO: Pride Toronto is hosting a cabana pool party on June 15 from 6-11 p.m. in honor of Pride Month. Local drag stars Sofonda Cox, Luna Dubois, and Miss Fiercalicious will be performing, and DJs Karim Olen Ash and Cesar Murillo will be on-site spinning tracks. GoGo dancers Liana, Milkshake Boy, Black Dragon, and more will be dancing their way around the pool, and the entire night is being headlined by Symone of Rupaul’s Drag Race. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and start at $32.84.

SugarLand Festival is hosting an event dubbed “Let There Be House” on June 26 from 3-11 p.m. Hosted by Prism Events, the one-day music festival aims to be a safe and inclusive space for all members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. Soundcloud superstars Mark Knight, TheShapeshifters, Simon Jain, and more will be performing. General admission tickets start at $50.

VANCOUVER: The 2022 Vancouver International Children’s Festival is taking place now through June 5 in person with online programming extending until June 12. The IRL iteration, located on Granville Island, has programming that includes acrobatics, puppetry, theater, music, and other arts activities for children and adults alike. There will also be a dance party hosted by Jacky Essombe featuring songs, music, and signature moves from Guinea, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and beyond. From June 9-July 31, the Arts Club and Theatre is presenting the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage. The show follows Charlie, a man struggling to save the shoe factory he inherited from his father, as he meets a drag queen named Lola and embarks on a journey of compassion and acceptance while saving his family business. Tickets start at $43.
