US: Atlas Obscura's 2023 Travel Itineraries, the 53rd annual World Series of Poker, Seaport Arts' Summer Programming, and More

GLOBAL: Travel and entertainment company Atlas Obscura has announced its highly anticipated lineup of trips slated for 2023. There will be seven never-before-seen itineraries, including a 10-day trip to Peru where participants will go beyond Machu Picchu to the legendary Nazca Lines and one of the last Incan rope bridges. A nine-day trip to Barcelona and Catalonia is also on the schedule, where guests will explore the culture, history, and architectural gems of the destination. And itineraries in Nova Scotia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and more are also on the lineup, which can be viewed in full on Atlas Obscura’s website.

LAS VEGAS: The 53rd annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) is officially underway at its new home inside Bally’s on the Las Vegas Strip (amidst its rebrand to Horseshoe Las Vegas). Running through July 20, the event kicked off with a celebrity Shuffle Up and Deal headed by reality TV personality Lisa Vanderpump, who also played in the event alongside team members from her restaurant staff. For the rest of the world series, competitors from around the world will compete in one of 88 exclusive WSOP events for a chance to win big money and make poker history.

LINCOLNSHIRE, ILL.: The Marriott Theatre has appointed Peter Blair as its new executive producer and Peter Marston Sullivan as its new artistic director. Blair and Sullivan have both been affiliated with the theater since the early 2000s and will now lead the iconic venue with 40-plus years of experience in the industry. The Marriott Theatre is known for presenting new and classic musicals, staging more than 250 productions for an estimated 12,000,000 audience members throughout its history.

NEW YORK: Seaport Arts—New York City’s public arts program built around community, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability—has a robust lineup of programming and new experiences to kick off the summer, courtesy of The Howard Hughes Corporation. SN37 Gallery’s latest exhibit, titled SEEN, is running now through June 12 and showcases a collection of work by the Google Creator Labs Season Six group of photographers. And on May 23 at Pier 17, Brooklyn-based artist Tom Fruin revealed two multicolored structures as part of his Icon series, a collection of colorful acrylic and steel patchwork sculptures. 

SHELTON, CONN.: Womenswear in Nevada (WWIN), a premier destination to source women’s apparel operated by Clarion Events, has announced that Melissa K. Montes has been promoted to vice president of WWIN. She will also serve as the vice president of Airport Experience (AXN) and continue in her role as DEI business partner lead at event production company Clarion Events. In her new position at WWIN, Montes will lead business and brand development and strategic partnerships while working on bi-annual women’s apparel and accessories events.
