BANFF: The Sights of Banff: a Smartphone Audio Walking Tour is a five-kilometer, 90-minute guide through Banff from your smartphone. A live GPS map guides participants, and tour highlights include the Banff Administration Building, Luxton Home Museum, Central Park, and the Cascades of Time Gardens. As you approach each historical building, commentary will automatically play, and the tour also comes with a location-based trivia game.
CALGARY: In celebration of Father’s Day on June 19, a number of restaurants are offering take-home barbecue kits. Expect prepped proteins, sides, appetizers, desserts, drinks, and grilling instructions to make the father figure in your life a delicious meal. Participators include the Cravings Market Restaurant, offering four different kits featuring striploin steaks, chicken breast, baby back ribs, and salmon filet. Accompaniments include salad, seared vegetables, and house-made barbecue sauces. Empire Provisions has a BBQ Meat Box for larger gatherings, filled with steak, short ribs, chicken wings, jerk chicken, and more.
On June 18 and 25, Rümi at ATCO Park, Commons Building, is hosting its inaugural pop-up dubbed Sun n’ Sips. Live music, cold drinks, and snacks courtesy of Blue Flame Kitchen will be available for free both days from 3-7 p.m.
EDMONTON: A Father’s Day BBQ and Brewery Tour (BBB Tour) takes place June 19 at Constable Ezio Faraone Park from noon-4 p.m. For $139, attendees will embark on a two-wheeled adventure, complete with barbecue-style meats from local restaurants and beers from Long Roof Brewery. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bikes, but rental options will also be available.
TORONTO: The Yorkville Exotic Car Show will take over Bloor Street West on June 19 from noon-5 p.m. The red-carpet event will feature a lineup of more than 90 exotic cars, closing traffic between Avenue Road and Bay Street. Local musicians will also be performing, such as Toronto-born songwriter Faith Armour, the Juan Arce Trio, and Columbia-native Los Locos, and Lucian Gray. Admission is free, and the event will support Melanoma Canada.
