CHICAGO: Upscale Mexican restaurant Tzuco, located in Chicago's River North, is celebrating summer with new menu items that represent the best of Mexico, paired with French haute cuisine techniques. Prepared by Michelin star chef Carlos Gaytan, new dishes include two appetizers—a charred avocado salad and heirloom tomatoes with pickled yellow peaches and a basil puree. This month, Tzuco also unveiled an over-the-top floral installation to further embellish the property’s 56-seat patio.
NEWARK, N.J.: In honor of summer, United Airlines has launched a direct flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to Mallorca Palma Airport and Tenerife South Airport in Spain. Three transatlantic flights will run between Newark, N.J., and Mallorca as the first and only nonstop flights between the United States and these Spanish islands.
NEW YORK: American-founded whiskey brand Bulleit unveiled the first of its kind “Art Barrel” installation painted by top street artist ELLE in efforts to bring awareness to the need for more trees in urban areas. The barrels double as planters, and will be on display in Tribeca and throughout the Tribeca Film Festival, which wrapped up on June 19. This week, the barrels will be auctioned off to the public on Saatchi Art, where 100% of the proceeds will go to American Forests and Tree Equity.
The Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF) presented by Capital One has announced its lineup of events for the four-day event, which will take place Oct. 13-16. During the 15th iteration of the festival, there will be signature food tasting events at Hudson River Park’s Pier 76 and Pier 86, including the Blue Moon Burger Bash hosted by Rachel Ray, Peroni’s Taste of Italy with special guest Whoopi Goldberg, Tacos & Tequila After Dark, and so much more. The Conrad New York Midtown will serve as the official host hotel for NYCWFF.
WAIKIKI, HAWAII: The ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach just announced Fit Waikiki and its new spa partner, Spa U’ilani. Formerly the hotel’s on-site gym and wellness center known as the Island Club & Spa, Fit Waikiki will focus on holistic wellness. There will also be new weight training equipment, fully appointed locker rooms, personal coaching sessions, group classes, tennis courts, and more. Fit Waikiki is open to both hotel guests and locals. Those who join a membership plan by July 4 will get two months free. Membership tiers start with the premium access for $100 for the first 90 days and a subsequent monthly fee of $125.
