CALGARY: TEDxYYC is taking place June 25 from 1-5 p.m. at cSpace King Edward Theatre. The independently organized event is a program of local, self-organized events designed to bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TED Talks will spark insightful conversations and deep discussions. MISSISSAUGA, ONT.: Tickets to the 2022 Skate Canada International will be available for presale on June 22 at 10 a.m. All-event tickets will range from $125-$300, not including applicable taxes and fees. Fans looking for the perfect seat are advised that the judges’ stand will be located between aisles 18 and 22, and the Kiss & Cry is located between aisles 1 and 26. The second annual competition in the annual International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating, the 2022 Skate Canada International will take place Oct. 28-30 at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.
ONTARIO: Fast-food restaurant Church’s Texas Chicken has announced that in its efforts to expand its global presence, it will expand with two new locations in Ontario in Newmarket and Windsor by the end of 2022. The franchisee behind the expansion is Mian Nadeem, and the openings will add to Nadeem’s existing portfolio of five other Church’s Texas Chicken locations. The brand also announced earlier this year, in celebration of its 70th anniversary, that it plans to open 100 new international restaurants by 2023.
TORONTO: Now through Sept. 5, Torontonians are encouraged to grab their picnic blankets and lawn chairs and attend Summer Music in the Park, presented by the Bloor-Yorkville BIA (BY BIA). Taking place in the Village of Yorkville, there will be free, live performances from a robust lineup of artists every Friday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. All performances are weather permitting and will include quartets, jazz, avant-pop, traditional Cuban, soulful blues, and more.
VANCOUVER: Vancouver Boat Parties is hosting its 8th annual Canada Day Boat Party on July 1 from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. The four-hour cruise, also known as the “floating nightclub,” will travel through the False Creek, English Bay, and into the inner harbor. On board, expect a rooftop dance floor, live DJs, and a fireworks display. Tickets start at $35.
