ATLANTA: Pro wrestling and hip-hop showcase Battle Slam has announced its third event, The Takeover, which will take place at the Oasis Event Center on July 28. Live, in-ring action will feature top wrestlers from AEW, WWE, Impact Wrestling, and more, plus music courtesy of DJ Mykael V. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are available on Eventbrite starting at $25.
AUSTIN, TEXAS: Rosenfeld Media Group has announced Amanda Brocato as the company’s EVP of live events and corporate strategies. Brocato originally joined the company in October 2020 and, after successfully building a live events division, will oversee Rosenfeld Media Group’s expansion into Austin, Texas. She is currently spearheading Austin’s Harry Ransom Center’s 54th anniversary gala—titled A Celebration of Film—at the University of Texas on Sept. 24.
CHICAGO: Six Flags Great America has announced an all-new live show, KINETIC, running Thursdays through Mondays now until Aug. 7. KINETIC is a stunt show featuring more than 30 performers, including BMX, high-flying acts, singers, dancers, and more. All performances will take place at the Grand Music Hall and are free for guests with park passes.
LAS VEGAS: Women’s apparel company Womenswear in Nevada (WWIN) has opened registration for its summer show during August Market Week, slated to take place at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace Aug. 8-11. At the WWIN Show, independent boutiques and large-scale retailers will have the opportunity to spot trends for 2023, plus source products, hear from industry experts during education sessions, network, and more. Reservations can now be made online on the WWIN Show’s website, and discounted hotel rates are available through July 12.
SANTA MONICA, CALIF.: Through the month of July, the Ultra Cinematheque 70 Fest is taking place at the Aero Theatre. The festival will nod to the Golden Age of 70mm filmmaking—which took place from 1955-1970—and show the works that resulted from that time, including Vertigo, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia, and more. Tickets range from $10-$15, and a full schedule of film showings is available on American Cinematheque’s website.
