CANADA: Food Network Canada's Halloween-Themed Programming, Summer on 17th, Just For Laughs Toronto, and More

GLOBAL: The NBA and Nacional Parque Basquete Brasil—an operator of theme parks and entertainment attractions—have announced a collaboration to open NBA Park in November. The three-story entertainment center will span more than 13,000 square feet and will mark the league’s largest fan destination in the world. NBA Park will be operated by Nacional Parque Basquete Brasil and be located in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. The park will immerse fans in basketball activities and virtual reality experiences, plus will include an on-site NBA store and NBA-themed restaurant, photo opportunities, and more.

NATIONAL: Food Network Canada has announced a fall schedule packed with Halloween programming, competitions, a star-studded new series, and the return of fan favorites. On Sept. 12, the network will kick off seven consecutive weeks of festive, Halloween-themed content with a new season of Halloween Baking Championship. The program will air new episodes every Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Corus Studios’ The Big Bake: Halloween will then return on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. ET/11 p.m. PT, and the Road to Halloween Wars premiere will follow on the same day at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Food Network Canada fans can also expect a new season of Outrageous Pumpkins, a new series titled Halloween Cookie Challenge, the debut of Kids Baking Championship: Trick or Eat Special, and more.

CALGARY: Summer on 17th is running now through Sept. 21 and is celebrating the last moments of the season with free events in Tomkins Park every weekend. On Sept. 2, there will be a live DJ and drag competition finale followed by live music in the park courtesy of Shalaine Stebner on Sept. 3 and the Listeso String Quartet, among others, on Sept. 4. Later in the month there will be family movies in the park and date night movies later in the night. On the schedule? Dirty Dancing, Guardians of the Galaxy, Grease, Mean Girls, and more. TORONTO: Just for Laughs Toronto is returning for its 10th year Sept. 22-Oct. 1. The 10-day comedy fest will feature headliners Trevor Noah, John Mulaney, Amy Schumer, Tim Dillon, and more. Classic and headliner passes as well as individual tickets can be purchased on Hahaha.com. Passes come with credits, which can be used to see any non-headliner shows.

This year’s Geary Art Crawl is happening Sept. 24 and 25 from noon-11 p.m. The two-day, rain-or-shine event will take over Toronto with live music, visual art installations, pop-ups, food, and more. The event is free and produced by Uma Nota Culture—which launched the annual event in 2021—with partners Art Spin, The Music Gallery, All Ours, Promise, and Lula Music and Arts.
