CANADA: Le Burger Week, Calgary's Pride Week Grand Finale, AsialiciousTO, and More

NATIONAL: Le Burger Week is kicking off nationwide Sept. 1 and is bringing two weeks of delicious eats to Canadians through Sept. 14. The event encourages participating restaurants to create special dishes curated just for the festival with the goal of trying new things or building awareness for existing dishes. There are more than 1,000 restaurants taking part in Le Burger Week throughout Canada—including in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick—with a slew creating vegan options to flex their creative muscles. Check out Le Burger Week’s website for participating restaurants in your area.

CALGARY: Calgary Pride Week is underway and will wrap up on Sept. 4 with a grand finale pride parade. Starting at 6th Street SW, the parade invited rainbow-clad 2SLGBTQ+ folks and allies to march through the streets alongside festive floats. This year, the parade is expecting to welcome up to 100,000 guests.

TORONTO: Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate kicked off its North American Tour at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena earlier this week. There will be afternoon and evening performances on Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster. The shows were originally scheduled for earlier this year, but were rescheduled due to capacity restrictions imposed by local authorities. Tickets previously purchased for Disney on Ice Presents Mickey’s Search Party will be honored for the Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate shows.

AsialiciousTO is returning for a two-week marathon Sept. 10-25 organized by the Federation of Asian Canadians Toronto (FACT). This year’s theme is Hong Kong, and from now on, the festival will announce a different culinary destination as the theme each year. Attendees can expect street food from the Chinese territory, plus prix fixe meals courtesy of local Asian restaurants ranging from $10-$30. Aside from restaurants, more than 100 Asian food-related businesses (think: hotels, grocery stores, bubble tea shops, and mall kiosks, among others) will participate. Visit AsialiciousTO’s website for a list of venues taking part in the food-focused event.

VANCOUVER: The Surrey Urban Farmers Market is taking place every Saturday now through Oct. 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Royal Kwantlen Park. Located steps away from the Surrey Central SkyTrain station, the farmers market aims to promote local farmers, food producers, artisans, community groups, and entertainers. Attendees can expect live entertainment, community workshops, and activities for kids alongside a unique shopping experience featuring local vendors and artisans.
