CALGARY: The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) announced that the 2022 CCMA Awards will return to Calgary in-person this fall at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Hosting the event is seven-time 2022 CCMA nominee Tenille Townes and multi-platinum selling artist Blanco Brown. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m., and on Corus radio stations Country 104, Country 105, and CISN 103.9.
MONTREAL: The Legacy Fund for the Environment—an organization that provides legal aid to environmental groups to protect wild spaces and their species—will host a fundraiser on Sept. 15 featuring live music, an auction, and a dinner extravaganza at Hurley’s Irish Pub. The Green Coalition, the Sierra Club Foundation, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Montreal Alouettes will co-sponsor this year’s event. Items up for auction include paintings, signed books, tickets to sporting events, and guided tours of Montreal woodlands.
TORONTO: ROMWalks are free, guided walking tours of Toronto that aim to provide a new perspective on nine different neighborhoods of the city, and will be taking place every Sunday in September at 2 p.m. Over the duration of the two-hour walk, tour guides will educate locals and visitors alike on Toronto’s history, architecture, arts of all varieties, and more. No registration or advance notice is needed to attend.
Alliance Française de Toronto will launch its new cultural season. To start, Over Connections—an exhibition by Carolina Reis with a focus on virtual communications and the connections between living things—will be shown Sept. 7-24. Throughout the exhibit there will be live music featured, with a concert by indie-pop artist Marie-Clo on Sept. 9, and on Sept. 16, AFT will welcome the TRACK theatrical company with the play Moi, fardeau inhérent about domestic violence. The performance will be directed and interpreted by Daniely Francisque. Two films will also be screened during the cultural season: Anais in Love on Sept. 8 followed by Madly in Life on Sept. 22.
VANCOUVER: National Geographic’s Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience will be shown at the Vancouver Convention Centre from Oct. 27-Jan. 8. The exhibit celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb and brings guests on a journey to modern-day Egypt through nine galleries. Attendees can also expect a narrated virtual reality experience of the tomb.
