CHICAGO: Located on the Windy City’s historic South Side, the 98-room boutique hotel SOPHY Hyde Park is now offering a “Fall SO-Cozy” package to celebrate the new season. The package was created with a couple’s getaway in mind, and thus includes a two-night stay at the hotel complete with a welcome pair of Mesler Hot Toddies, admission for two to the nearby Museum of Science and Industry—the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere—and a $50 credit to Mesler Chicago, a restaurant and bar helmed by chef Eddie Arreola. The Fall SO-Cozy package starts at $289 per night.
NEW YORK: International organization UNITAS—which is dedicated to preventing human trafficking and supporting survivors—will host a star-studded gala on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at New York’s Cipriani South Street. The event marks UNITAS’ fifth annual gala, and the 2022 iteration will be hosted by WABC-TV news anchor Sade Baderinwa and honor New York Police Department Lieutenant Amy Capogna from the Citywide Human Trafficking Squad, as well as Yehudit Zicklin-Sidikman, a self-defense and violence prevention entrepreneur. The UNITAS Gala will also feature performances by Natasha Bedingfield, violinist David Aaron Carpenter, and more.
Premier experiential beauty brand Blushington expanded its business offering with the opening of its new Blushington Columbus Circle flagship location. The outpost debuted on Sept. 9 and is welcoming customers to get blowouts and dry styling for hair of all textures alongside makeup and skincare services. The company also announced that it will roll out franchising opportunities in 2023, allowing beauty entrepreneurs to launch their own Blushington location.
Now through Oct. 1, Hella Cocktail Co., which has been crafting bitters in NYC for 10 years, is celebrating the milestone anniversary. Dubbed “Cheers to 10 Bitter Years: A Flavor Exploration,” the bitters brand is hosting a pop-up event at 232 Varet St. in Brooklyn where guests are welcome to explore the space alone or via audio guide to learn about the brand through all five senses. Attendees can expect to be hands-on to discover the origins of bitters, learn about its use in medicine, participate in the “extraction wall,” partake in an on-site, non-alcoholic speakeasy, and more. Admission is free.
ORLANDO: The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes announced that the hotel has achieved elite standing as a Five Diamond designated property by the AAA Diamond Program. With this distinction, Ritz-Carlton Orlando has become one of three hotels in North America added to the list in 2022, and one of two in the Central Florida area to ever be included.
