EDMONTON: The popular Haunted Hike in Vegreville—known for its 18 spooky rooms and on-site actors that gave guests a scare as they explored the home—has announced that it will not open for the Halloween season this October. “As many know, our family has been operating two businesses in the same location, [and] while the Haunted Hike brought us so much joy in our lives, it has become too hard on us to run both simultaneously,” an announcement on the Haunted Hike’s website read.
MONTREAL: C2 Montreal is taking place Sept. 26-28, and the Canadian conference has announced that Jay Shetty will be a speaker. Shetty is a former monk and the No. 1 New York Times best-selling author of Think Like a Monk. He’s also the host of the world’s top health and wellness podcast, On Purpose, the co-founder of Sama Tea, and the chief purpose officer at Calm.
TORONTO: Thompson Landry Gallery is showing Rhythms and Correspondence, a solo exhibition of 21 new works by artist Jean-Daniel Rohrer, Sept. 15-Oct. 9. Rohrer’s artwork is characterized by its repetition and rhythmic cadence, with images and symbols that transport viewers back to the past and provide them with a fresh perspective. Patrons are also invited to meet Rohrer on Sept. 17 from noon-4 p.m. and can RSVP by calling or emailing Thompson Landry Gallery.
VANCOUVER: Air Canada has released its annual “Best New Restaurants” list, and three Vancouver eateries made the cut: Elephant, Delara, and Bar Susu. Elephant is an 18-seat restaurant that offers an omakase experience with a unique, five-course menu that changes daily alongside wine and sake pairings. Delara is an homage to chef Bardia Ilbeiggi’s roots in Iran, and the menu nods to Persian cuisine. And Bar Susu began as a pop-up, but was so popular that it created a permanent location in the Canadian city serving family-style dishes.
AMS Events is kicking off the school year with its 36th Annual Welcome Back BBQ Music Festival, taking place Sept. 16 following a two-year hiatus. Attendees can expect live performances by French Montana, Fivio Foreign, Cheat Codes, and many more, plus on-site food trucks and game booths. Tickets start at $38.96 and are available on Showpass.
