CANADA: The Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival, The MBA Tour Returns, the Vancouver Writers Fest, and More

CALGARY: The Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival (RMWFF) celebrates its 25th anniversary Oct. 14-15 at BMO Centre Hall with savory bites and sweet treats, plus (of course) wine, spirits, and beer. Attendees can expect to taste food and beverage from hundreds of exhibitors, and the festival expects to welcome more than 25,000 guests over the course of the event’s two days. Tickets are available via Showpass starting at $35.68. After Calgary’s event, the fest will travel to Edmonton for another edition Nov. 4-5.

TORONTO: Elevate Festival takes over the Design Exchange Sept. 20-22 with education programming, an NFT art gallery, block party, and more. Main stage programming will cover topics such as artificial intelligence, the metaverse, preserving the planet, women in tech, just to name a few, and will feature speakers including tennis star Venus Williams, astronaut Chris Hadfield, Olympic medalist Andre de Grasse, UN Goodwill Ambassador Sabrina Dhowre Elba, and many more. And each night, the Elevate Festival Block Party will take over downtown Toronto for a celebration complete with live music and entertainment showcasing local talent, including Haviah Mighty, 4KORNERS, Francesco Yates, and more. Tickets are available via Elevate Festival’s website and start at $225 for a Youth Pass.

Toronto’s Venus Fest returns in person this year at 468 Queen St. W. Oct. 14-16. This year’s lineup will feature musical performances by Indigenous, Canadian, and international artists including headliners Hannah Georgas, Vagabon, and Austra. There will also be an immersive art installation courtesy of queer interdisciplinary Algonquin artist Natalie King as well as ASL musical interpretation by Gaitrie Persaud. Tickets are available on the Venus Fest’s website and start at $18 for single-night tickets and $36 for a three-day wristband.

VANCOUVER: The MBA Tour returns to Vancouver on Sept. 24 for an in-person event at The Nest, Alma Mater Society of UBC. From 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., aspiring students will have the opportunity to meet admissions representatives from top business schools—including Toronto Rotman, Duke, McGill, and more—plus get their headshots taken, improve their resume with on-site clinics, network with fellow applicants, and more. Admission is free, but RSVP is required via The MBA Tour’s website.

The 35th annual Vancouver Writers Fest (VWF) takes place Oct. 17-23, featuring more than 80 events, including discussions about the journalism field, conversations with authors from around the world, celebrations of debut and bestselling novels, and more. Programming spans in-person and online, such as the fall digital book club with Irish novelist Emma Donoghue, an ‘80s dance party at the Fox Cabaret, and a masterclass with young-adult author Kern Carter.
