US: A Couples’ Night of Dinner and Dancing, a Dinosaur Exhibit to Debut in Miami, a ‘Best In Show’ Dog Costume Contest, and More

CHICAGO: Oaken Bistro + Bar has partnered with the Lake Forest Dance Academy to offer a dinner and dancing night for couples on Oct. 15. Starting at 6 p.m., guests will participate in a 60-minute rumba lesson by instructor Denita Inez, followed by a three-course meal that includes two glasses of wine, an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. Tickets are available via Oaken Bistro + Bar’s website for $199 per couple.

MIAMI: The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is debuting Ultimate Dinosaurs: Meet a New Breed of Beast on Oct. 8. The hands-on, interactive exhibit will allow guests to step into the shoes of a paleontologist and uncover dinosaurs from the Southern Hemisphere. Visitors will encounter 13 dinosaur casts, authentic fossils, and touchable fossilized specimens. The exhibit will be on display through April 23, 2023.

NEW YORK: Hilton has announced the appointment of Diarmuid Dwyer to area managing director of Hilton’s New York City managed hotel portfolio. In the new role, Dwyer will oversee the hotels’ general managers, area operations, and commercial capabilities throughout the Big Apple. Previously, Dwyer served as the general manager of the New York Hilton Midtown, a 1,878-room property with the largest meeting space footprint and ballroom in any of the city’s hotels.

A pickleball concept is launching at Hudson Yards on Oct. 1 and will run through Oct. 31. Dubbed CityPickle, the month-long installation is debuting as part of Power Hour at the Backyard at Hudson Yards presented by Wells Fargo. Aside from free court rentals—which are available to reserve as of today—guests can also participate in lessons and clinics.

TYSONS, VA.: The Boro is calling all furry friends and their owners for a “Best In Show” dog costume contest taking place on Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. Humans are encouraged to enter their pups into the contest for a chance to win baskets filled with Halloween-themed dog goodies. Also on-site, attendees at the family-friendly Halloween affair can reward their pets at the Bone Bar while enjoying live beats from a DJ or the face painting and glitter tattoo stations. Admission to the event is free, but registration is required for participants in the dog costume contest.
