BANFF: Tickets go on sale this week for the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival, a flagship program of Banff Centre. The festival will take place Oct. 29-Nov. 6 with more than 60 live events at the centre's recently renovated Jenny Belzberg Theatre, the Margaret Greenham Theatre, and the Max Bell Auditorium. Free events include talks, exhibitions, and the Festival Marketplace. Events and screenings will also take place at Lux Cinema Banff, artsPlace Canmore, and other partner venues in downtown Banff.
MONTREAL: More than 100 countries and their tourism offices will be represented at this year's International Tourism and Travel Show at the Montréal Convention Centre, taking place Oct. 28-30. The show is once again partnering with Profession Voyages to offer a day dedicated to professionals, who will be able to network and learn about the latest industry trends. Conferences will be held specifically for travel agents at the Place d’animation stage all day long on Oct. 28.
TORONTO: The second annual Common Ground Dance Festival will take place Oct. 7-8, at Lee Lifeson Art Park in North York, and will offer free community workshops for all experience levels, pop-up performances, and main stage performances. The event is put on by Toes for Dance, an artist-run nonprofit and contemporary dance organization. Admission to the festival is free.
VANCOUVER: Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited has officially opened Cascades Casino Delta in the greater Vancouver area. The facility features 500 slots, 18 table games, and stadium-style gaming, as well as Gateway's signature restaurant, MATCH Eatery & Public House and Buffet. It will also offer a new state-of-the-art, 5,000-square-foot ballroom that converts into three conference separate spaces.
The 24th annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival returns Oct. 8 to celebrate the annual harvest, the history of cranberry in the area, and Fort Langley's earlier years. Fort Langley is a picturesque historic town located in the Fraser Valley, about a 45-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. Much of the festival will take place in the heart of the town at the Fort Langley Community Hall (9167 Glover Rd.) and along the main street in front of the building. Admission to the festival is free.
