CHICAGO: City Cruises Chicago has announced its offerings for the fall season, including the return of Seadog Haunted River Tours, a costumed tour of the spookiest parts of Chicago offered on weekends now through Oct. 30. Other cruises returning this year include Brunch on the River and the Lake, a Chicago Lake Lunch, a “Sights & Sips” cocktail cruise, and an architectural tour of the city. Additionally, those looking to plan their holidays early have the opportunity to now reserve a spot on City Cruises Chicago’s Thanksgiving feast on the river or the lake.
LAS VEGAS: Oak View Group (OVG)—a global venue development, advisory, and investment company for the sports and live entertainment industry—recently announced the appointment of Chandra Allison as senior vice president of strategy and growth for meetings, conventions, and exhibitions. In the newly created role, which Allison assumed on Sept. 13, she will oversee the strategy to grow the convention center's business and elevate the omnipresent guest experience. She will also design and develop meeting spaces and programming for OVG’s Las Vegas Hotel and Casino project. Allison joins OVG following a 24-year tenure at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
MIAMI: The hands-on, interactive exhibition Ultimate Dinosaurs: Meet a New Breed of Beast will open at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science on Oct. 8. The exhibit will feature dinosaurs that evolved in isolation in South America, Africa, and Madagascar, showcasing a total of 13 rare dinosaur casts and authentic fossils. Specimens will also be brought to life through augmented reality technology and hands-on activities, allowing visitors to explore physical characteristics such as crests, frills, and stride patterns. The exhibition will be on view through April 23, 2023.
NEW YORK: INNSiDE by Meliá New York Nomad, helmed from Spain’s largest hotel company Meliá Hotels International, has created a new, seasonally themed room that aims to bring the island of Mallorca to New York. The “La Vida Mallorquin” room brings the beauty of the Balearic Island to life through art displays showcasing the people, places, festivities, tastemakers, landmarks, and seascapes featured in Mark Julian Edwards’ photography book Faces of Mallorca. A complimentary bottle of wine from the region and traditional light bites will be offered to those who book the room, and guests will also receive a gift card for Mercado Little Spain, a Spanish food market located in Hudson Yards.
Claude’s Restaurant at the Southampton Inn is showcasing the talented skills of its new executive chef, Giancarlo Dellanzo, with a recently debuted lunch and dinner menu to complement the restaurant's other offerings. Guests will have the opportunity to dine on wild seafood spaghetti, oven-roasted cod, free-range chicken, and prime sliced aged sirloin steak, among other new additions. The restaurant itself also got a makeover, featuring new decor and outdoor tables in a garden setting. Claude’s is open daily for breakfast and lunch, and serves dinner Thursday through Monday. Weekend brunch is also offered.
