GLOBAL: Discover Puerto Rico and Marriott International have partnered to announce the launch of "Live Boricua" experience packages that offer immersive rooms, featuring arts, decor, experiences, and culinary offerings deeply rooted in the Puerto Rican DNA. Inspired by Discover Puerto Rico’s Live Boricua brand campaign, which invites travelers to enjoy things the Boricua—or Puerto Rican—way, these travel packages include lodging and experiences that highlight Puerto Rico’s diversified talent and local brands. Participating hotels include AC Hotel by Marriott San Juan Condado, The St. Regis Bahia Beach, and Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino.
CALGARY: Lynx Air (Lynx), Canada's ultra-affordable airline, announced that Jim Sullivan will join the company as chief operating officer, effective Oct. 18. Sullivan brings more than 30 years of airline operations experience to the role, as both a pilot and an airline executive, most recently as vice president of flight operations at JetBlue Airways. Sullivan joins Lynx at a critical time in the airline's development, with plans to expand its network to the U.S. and grow its fleet to 10 aircraft over the next 12 months. He will lead a team of nearly 200 pilots, cabin crew, and other airline professionals.
WestJet announced that it will add four-times weekly service between Terrace, B.C., and Calgary beginning Dec. 1. WestJet Encore's service to Terrace will provide a convenient connection to WestJet's home and largest global hub in Calgary, where the airline will operate more than 800 flights per week to 65-plus destinations around the world in December. The route will operate four times weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on WestJet Encore's Q400 aircraft.
EDMONTON: The board of directors for Edmonton Airports has selected Myron Keehn as its new CEO. Myron will replace current CEO Tom Ruth, who is set to retire at the end of December. Myron currently serves as vice president of air service, business development, ESG, and stakeholder relations. In his 15 years with Edmonton Airports, Myron led many of the innovative developments at the airport, including the creation of the Airport Sustainability Campus.
FRANKLIN, QUE.: The Government of Canada recently announced a non-repayable contribution of $100,000 for Spa Franklin to help it overcome the economic impacts of the COVID‑19 pandemic. This Canada Economic Development (CED) support, granted under the Tourism Relief Fund, will enable the business to enhance its drawing power and increase tourist traffic in the MRC du Haut‑Saint‑Laurent. Conceptualized in 2015, Spa Franklin offers outdoor thermal experiences, massage therapy services, and a bistro corner. Through this project, the business will be able to acquire three mini cottages for tourist accommodations. CED's support will also enable Spa Franklin to adopt eco-friendly practices in its operations.
