GLOBAL: Freeman, a global leader in events, has named Heather Kreager to its board of directors. Kreager is CEO of Sammons Enterprises, a privately owned, global holding company of financial services, real estate investment, infrastructure, and industrial equipment businesses. She has served on the executive committee and board since 2008. She also serves on the Board of Guggenheim Capital, an international financial services firm, and KDC, a leading developer of corporate build-to-suit office space and work, live, play developments. Kreager replaces Margot Carter as her term ends.
International events and media organization SBC has appointed Michael Mandl to the new role of chief growth officer for SBC Events. Reporting to CEO Rasmus Sojmark, Mandl will be tasked with maximizing the opportunities in SBC's current sports betting and iGaming vertical, as well as leveraging the company's strength to enter new verticals and launch new events. Mandl has over 20 years of experience in events and has held numerous senior executive positions around the world with Reed Exhibitions, most recently as chief operating officer for Reed Exhibitions in Brazil and Mexico.
NATIONAL: Air Canada recently announced a comprehensive range of new product improvements to elevate the customer experience. These include upgraded Economy dining, more in-flight entertainment and connectivity options, and enriched Premium offerings. Beginning in November, customers will see new and restored services in Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges and in Premium cabins onboard, a new Economy Class dining service with a celebrity chef entree, new Bistro choices in North America, and (in a first for a Canadian airline) complimentary, high-speed Wi-Fi when traveling Premium Rouge. Starting in 2023, Air Canada will increase its onboard entertainment content by over 25% and introduce live TV.
HUNTSVILLE, ONT.: Indigenous Tourism Ontario and Destination Ontario have further solidified their collaborative relationship through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was signed last week at the Ontario Tourism Summit 2022. The MOU outlines specific areas for communication, marketing, and mentorship collaboration, with a goal to strengthen the Indigenous tourism industry across Ontario. It came into effect upon signing and will be in place until March 31, 2024, at which time the MOU will be reviewed for new goals and objectives.
TORONTO: Little Canada has been named the province's Top Indoor Attraction by earning the most votes in Attraction Ontario's seventh annual Ontario's Choice Awards. Little Canada is a highly detailed and immersive miniature attraction offering spectacular scenery, soundscapes, animated features, and moving cars, trains, and boats that all operate on a 15-minute day cycle. Upon sunset, thousands of tiny lights illuminate the display. Little Canada opened to the public in August 2021 across from Yonge and Dundas Square.
