US: AmEx’s Business Class Video Series Debuts, Plus The Watergate Hotel’s Ice Cream Pairing Menu for Thanksgiving, and More

GLOBAL: The Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos is offering a slew of festive events and activities this holiday season, including a Christmas Eve bonfire where guests can watch the sun set over Grace Bay Beach while enjoying s’mores. And on Christmas Day, hotel guests are invited to gather for a traditional Christmas Day buffet feast complete with Caribbean charms and live entertainment. There are two seatings on Dec. 25—at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.—and bookings are required in advance. The Ritz will also offer New Year’s Eve specials, including a five-course menu at the on-site BLT Steak, helmed by chef de cuisine Luis Duarte; a four-course Italian menu at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Casa Nonna; and a themed gala dinner courtesy of the property’s culinary team, complemented by musical entertainment and champagne to toast at midnight. NATIONAL: American Express has released the first episode of its Business Class video series. Titled “The Moment of Inspiration,” Episode 1 features chef and restaurateur David Chang as he reframes how Americans think of ramen, plus how the evolution of his leadership style resulted in a restaurant empire. Upcoming episodes will be released every two weeks now through December, and viewers can expect interviews and insights with Issa Rae, Calm co-founder Michael Acton, and execs at Ben & Jerry's. The five-episode Business Class video series was designed to help small business owners with key takeaways on leadership, entrepreneurship, and more. OAK BROOK, ILL.: The Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook Chicago is highlighting the importance of self care with the introduction of spa packages. Patrons can now book “Wellness Wednesdays” throughout the month of November (remaining Wednesdays are on the 16th and 30th) to start their day with a 9:15 a.m. aromatherapy yoga class before taking part in an aquatics class. The two classes start at $95, and guests have the option to add on a 50-minute massage, facial, or stretch therapy session for $80.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: The Thompson San Antonio - Riverwalk has announced the addition of three seasoned hospitality professionals to key leadership roles at the hotel. Eugene Mardell has been appointed general manager; Melanie Bruce is now the director of sales and marketing; and Natalie Fournier has assumed the role of director of revenue. Together, Mardell, Bruce, and Fournier will lead hotel operations as well as the luxury property’s strategic sales and marketing initiatives.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Just in time for Thanksgiving, the Watergate Hotel and its on-site, upscale Mediterranean restaurant, Kingbird, have announced an ice cream pairing menu with local partner Ice Cream Jubilee. The eatery’s newly appointed executive chef Anthony DiGregorio has worked in collaboration with Jubilee Ice Cream’s founder, Victoria Lai, to offer signature flavors that’ll pair perfectly with Kingbird’s Thanksgiving pre-fixe menu, which is $125 for adults and $65 for children. Guests can look forward to an amuse bouche of cranberry sorbet with burnt orange foam and a pumpkin honeycomb ice cream later in the meal.
