TORONTO: Great Canadian Entertainment announced that Anthony "Tony" Rodio is retiring as CEO and director. The company's board of directors has appointed Matthew Anfinson, previously COO, to succeed Rodio as CEO. Great Canadian has also appointed Jordan Banks—a highly respected Canadian business leader—as its first executive chairperson. The Ontario-based company operates 25 gaming, entertainment, and hospitality destinations across Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA)—operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport—has announced the reopening of Runway 06L/24R, the airport's second-busiest runway, after an eight-month rehabilitation. The project is one of the largest in Pearson's history, and it extends the life of the runway by 30 years and enhances the safety of Pearson's operations.
VANCOUVER: Bright Nights is returning to Stanley Park for its 25th anniversary, though it will look a bit different with the absence of its vintage trains. But eventgoers can still expect twinkly lights, family fun, and holiday cheer—all beginning on Dec. 1. Food vendors will be on-site to provide churros, pretzels, popcorn, and hot chocolate. Families can also visit Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole or find a sheltered spot to enjoy the live entertainment. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds benefitting the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.
