GLOBAL: A new global partnership between PPDS and IHG Hotels & Resorts will bring Philips MediaSuite TVs, designed especially for the hospitality industry with Chromecast built-in, into IHG hotels for the first time, delivering more entertainment choice, personalization, and control for fully tailored guest experiences. IHG will begin introducing Philips MediaSuite TVs into selected hotels across all of its brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the Holiday Inn brand family, Crowne Plaza, voco, and Hotel Indigo in the coming months.
NATIONAL: Porter Airlines is adding Edmonton to its network, with flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Edmonton International Airport. Edmonton is the newest destination for Porter's new Embraer E195-E2 jet service, which currently includes Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montréal. The initial flight schedule starts in February 2023 with one daily flight, increasing to three daily flights in April for additional flexibility. Connecting flights with Ottawa and Montreal will also be available.
MONTRÉAL: Montréal centre-ville, Tourisme Montréal, and the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership are happy to welcome a new kind of New Year's Eve celebrations at the Place des Festivals and throughout downtown. For the very first time, La Lutinerie de Montréal is contributing to a festive lineup of activities—free and open to all—meant to mark the occasion and welcome the new year to downtown Montreal. Visitors can expect musical performances and DJs, gourmet food and drink stations, and live entertainment in the Grand Marché de Noël's magical setting. On the evening of Dec. 31, the Esplanade Tranquille skating rink and the Luminothérapie installations will be open and accessible until 1 a.m.
TORONTO: Great Canadian Entertainment has announced that its current executive vice president of operations in the greater Toronto area, Ron Urquhart, has been promoted to chief operating officer; and Gavin Whiteley has been appointed as the company's chief marketing officer. Both will be based at the company's corporate office in Toronto. These appointments follow Matthew Anfinson's appointment to CEO in November, who was the company's former chief operating officer. Great Canadian Entertainment is an Ontario-based company that operates 25 gaming, entertainment, and hospitality facilities in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
The Ontario Science Centre is is open daily from Dec. 24-Jan. 8 (closed on Dec. 25) from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Families and visitors alike are invited to participate in the hands-on holiday fun, with exciting exhibitions and films, dynamic demos, and so much more. And opening on Dec. 24 is the IMAX film Dream Big: Engineering Our World, which celebrates the amazing engineers and the modern marvels they design and build to make the world a better place.
