US: The Driskill's New General Manager, Nashville to Welcome Financial Industry Summit, St. Louis Unveils New Midtown Venue, and More

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Austin's oldest operating hotel, The Driskill, has announced the appointment of Markus Puereschitz as general manager. In his new role, Puereschitz will manage day-to-day operations at the property and supervise planned renovations as well as F&B expansions, which will be announced at a later time. He most recently served as the director of operations at Hyatt Regency Dallas.

NASHVILLE: The Breakaway League, LLC and One America are set to host some of the financial industry's most prominent leaders in Nashville for The Professionals’ Forum Financial Industry Summit from Feb. 15-17 at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum. Early bird pricing has now been extended through Jan. 15. At this inaugural summit, attendees can expect an educational experience that will bring together financial industry company executives, business owners, agents, intermediaries, and service providers with influential executives from across the U.S. 

NEW ORLEANS: The Miss Universe Organization has announced that Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai Jenkins will serve as hosts for the 71st Miss Universe Competition, taking place this year on Jan. 14 in New Orleans. Culpo—a former Miss Universe winner—will return to the stage to co-host with Emmy Award winner Jenkins. They will be joined by Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray; and Emmy Award-winning television personality, American Ninja Warrior co-host, and Access Hollywood correspondent Zuri Hall, who will be the backstage commentator for the competition.

NEW YORK: Save the date for the 17th Annual Kosher Food & Wine Experience (KFWE) at Chelsea Piers, taking place Feb. 6 from 3-9 p.m. Attendees can expect more than 400 wineries from around the world to exhibit, as well as cuisine from the kitchens of today’s top kosher chefs, restaurants, specialty food companies, and caterers. The event will include a preview of new wines and spirits for this year's Passover celebrations. General admission starts at $160.76. 

ST. LOUIS: New + Found—the group behind popular St. Louis destinations like City Foundry STL and the Angad Arts Hotel—have unveiled a new venue: The Smith at the MOTO Museum. Located in the city's Midtown Moto Complex, The Smith will now serve as a space for large and mid-sized weddings, corporate events, seminars, parties, and more.  The venue is currently undergoing cosmetic renovations, such as the addition of optional partition walls and a garage door for indoor/outdoor access. The Smith—which spans 7,500 square feet and can seat 450 people—is currently booking events for this year.
