GLOBAL: Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has released the first of four phases of its newest campaign, titled Famous Yet Nameless. The debut marks Sonesta’s first-ever effort of its kind to build brand awareness as the hotel company has quickly become the world’s eighth largest. The campaign was developed in partnership with RO New York and aims to appeal to every type of traveler—from business to leisure and extended stay.
EDMONTON: Endeavor Brewing Company on Carnegie Drive is hosting Beer School 101 on Jan. 12 from 7-9 p.m. where guests are invited to experience and learn about all things craft beer. The seminar, hosted by head brewer Matthew Atkins, will speak on beer’s history as well as its ingredients and brewing process. And, of course, there will be eight 4-ounce craft beers on-hand for guests to sample. Tickets are on sale via Eventbrite for $30.
On Jan. 15, Red Willow Community Church will host a free plant-based cooking class from 2-4 p.m. During the event, guests will not only prepare a plant-based meal, but will learn about the health effects of eating a plant-rich diet. Guests are encouraged to pre-register to help the community church plan how much food to prepare. Donations will also be accepted during the event.
TORONTO: Sugar Shack TO, presented by Redpath Sugar, returns to Toronto’s Sugar Beach March 11-12, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Guests can expect a celebration of maple, with stands serving up Ontario maple taffy courtesy of Menkes Developments, plus Redpath Sugar cookies, maple-infused comfort foods, and more. There will also be warming stations, live entertainment, and interactive activities for attendees of all ages. Admission is free.
VANCOUVER: Now through Jan. 24, The Improv Centre is hosting 90-minute improv comedy shows titled “New Year, New Me.” Taking place Fridays and Saturdays starting at 9:30 p.m. (doors open at 8:30 p.m.), guests can expect PG-14 jokes about regrets and resolutions. Tickets are available on The Improv Centre’s website starting at $25.
