GLOBAL: The Waldorf Astoria Cancun has announced three appointments to its executive leadership team: Andre Aparicio as hotel manager, Alejandra Vela as guest experience manager, and Omar Sanchez as cluster spa director. Aparicio brings 16 years of hospitality experience to the role, having most recently served as the director of operations for JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro. Vela and Sanchez were part of the opening team of Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort before joining Waldorf Astoria Cancun. Together, the hotel profs will aim to elevate the guest experience and create an unforgettable stay.
ASPEN, COLO.: The 40th annual Food & Wine Classic returns to Aspen June 16-18 this year. The event plans to celebrate its anniversary with all-star culinary talent Bobby Flay, Marcus Samuelsson, and Carla Hall in attendance. Guests can also expect a mix of cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits seminars, and panel discussions with industry experts. Tickets are now available on the Food & Wine Classic’s website.
CHICAGO: Dr. Ricardo Rosenkranz returns to Rhapsody Theater with a new rendition of his hit show, Physician Magician. The show’s preview will take place on Feb. 9 and is slated for a Feb. 27 opening, with plans to run through April 2. Audience members can expect a wow-worthy production full of illusions as Dr. Rosenkranz explores the relationship between medicine and magic. NEW YORK: Savor the Hamptons, a culinary series taking place at The Roundtree in Amagansett, is featuring New Orleans-born chef Dominick Lee Feb. 24-25. The showcase of Lee’s NOLA-inspired cuisine is timely, as the chef is set to debut his first New York restaurant, Alligator Pear, later this spring. Lee previously worked as the executive chef at Houston’s Poitin Bar & Kitchen, which was named one of 2019’s Top Monthly Restaurants by Texas Monthly under his direction. SARASOTA, FLA.: Sodexo Live! has announced a new agreement with Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium as the opening of Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA) approaches its late 2024 opening. The hospitality partner will handle all of the aquarium’s food and beverage offerings, as well as special event catering. Upon opening, Mote SEA will boast 110,000 square feet and is expected to attract 700,000 visitors in its first year.
