CANADA: Redberry Restaurants’ Expansion, a Maple Sugar Festival in Toronto, a Craft Beer Festival in Vancouver, and More

GLOBAL: Richard Rathe and John Capano—two experiential marketing industry veterans with a combined 50-plus years of experience—have joined forces to launch The Ev&Ex Agnecy, LLC, a brand-new global events and experience agency. The Ev&Ex Agency will help brands of all sizes identify, engage, and motivate their audience. Rathe and Capano’s rolodex already includes the likes of Amazon, AT&T, Hulu, Google, Netflix, Toyota, and more.

ALBERTA: Three new Pizza Hut locations are set to open in Alberta this spring—in Bonnyville, Airdrie, and Calgary. The outposts will be helmed by Redberry Restaurants, a Toronto-based and fast-growing restaurant operator. The openings will make Redberry the owner of 27 Pizza Hut locations throughout Alberta. But its expansion doesn’t stop there—the company has plans to open nearly 400 Burger King and Taco Bell locations across Canada.

CALGARY: Canadian-American wrestling star Bret “The Hitman” Hart opened his long-awaited restaurant concept inside the Cowboys Casino. Fittingly named Hitman’s Bar, the multi-room restaurant and lounge was four years in the making, but it’s finally open and offering a dining and nightlife experience. The space features 25 televisions, a private dining room, and a menu with bar bites like fried goat cheese, a crispy chicken sandwich, a California-style burrito, and more.

TORONTO: Brooks Farms, located on Mount Albert, is hosting its annual Maple Sugar Festival now through March 19. During the fest, guests are invited to the farm to sample maple sugar, dine at the on-site pancake house, and partake in family friendly activities like train or wagon rides, educational tours, camp fires—complete with marshmallows and hot chocolate—and more. Tickets are available online for $12.99.

VANCOUVER: The inaugural Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival is taking place at the Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club on March 4. Attendees are invited to the fest to sample a slew of brews while benefiting 93.7 JR Country’s Basics for Babies program, which supports babies in need. The festival marks the first time the golf and country club has organized an event of this kind, and guests can expect samples and education courtesy of Yellow Dog Brewing Co., Streamworks Brewing, Five Roads Brewing Co., Workshop Hard Seltzer, and many more. There will also be a menu courtesy of the venue’s chef. Tickets are $75 and include all F&B, a shuttle service, and a charitable donation.
