CANADA: JUNOfest Returns, Toronto Businesses Get Tourism Relief Funding, Parkside Hotel Wins Sustainability Award, and More

GLOBAL: Six Senses Rome will open its doors in the historical Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini on March 16. This marks the brand's first urban hotel in Italy. The property will feature 96 guest rooms and suites, with some featuring the iconic Triclinium-style marble seating on their terraces, and a Six Senses Spa. BIVIUM will offer all-day dining, and NOTOS Rooftop will transport guests high above the hustle and bustle. Menus are set to feature a Roman Empire-inspired, five-course tasting menu with Sicilian touches to honor the executive chef’s home favorites.

Noble House Hotels & Resorts—the family-owned boutique hotel brand with a carefully curated collection of 25 hotels, resorts, and experiences across North America—has partnered with Green Seal to continue its sustainability efforts. Over the course of the next few months, 13 of Noble House's properties across North America will join an exclusive list of hotels to earn Green Seal's Standard for Hotel and Lodging Properties (GS-33) following an extensive review and on-site visit. 

EDMONTON: JUNOfest presented by CBC Music is back and once again taking over intimate stages and bustling pubs across Edmonton. For three jam-packed nights, JUNOfest will showcase talent of all genres from across the country, ranging from indie all-stars to dynamic jazz ensembles. The fest will take place March 10-12 at multiple venues including Union Hall, Starlite Room, and River City Revival House. Tickets and listing of all shows are available on JUNOfest's website.

TORONTO: It was announced that 117 tourism businesses and organizations in Toronto have received support from Regional Tourism Organization 5 – Greater Toronto Area (RTO5) through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund. An additional 24 businesses in Mississauga and Brampton are also benefiting from this federal support as part of the program, delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). RTO5 received $12 million in tourism relief funding to help local tourism organizations and businesses safely welcome back visitors, recover from the impacts of the pandemic, create jobs, and prepare for future growth. 

VICTORIA, B.C.: The Parkside Hotel & Spa announced that it won the Sustainability Award during the 2023 BC Tourism & Hospitality Conference in Prince George, March 1-3. Director of operations Ashley Priest accepted the award on behalf of the hotel. The Sustainability Award recognizes an individual, organization, or consortium operating in British Columbia that has championed the implementation and/or education of sustainable and regenerative practices in their operations.
