US: Miami CVB's New Hire, Orlando Hotel's Event Planner Promotion, The Michelin Guide Adds 8 D.C. Restaurants, and More

GLOBAL: English Tourism Week takes place this year March 17-26. The annual week is dedicated to celebrating England’s tourism industry. The event's coordinator, VisitEngland, is now putting out a call for people and businesses to get involved. This year's tagline is "Amazing," meant to celebrate the amazing people, places, businesses, attractions, experiences, and destinations that make up England’s tourism sector.

MIAMI: The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Carolyn Corrigan director of travel industry sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. In her role, Corrigan will be responsible for promoting Greater Miami and Miami Beach to travel industry professionals throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Most recently, she served as international business development director for Costa Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines, and in sales for Marriott Hotels & Resorts.

ORLANDO: Holiday Inn & Suites Across From Universal Orlando has launched the new Executive Meeting Planner Package for events held at the hotel. At $47 per person, with a 25-person minimum, the Executive Meeting Planner Package includes a complimentary meeting room rental and other perks like a hot breakfast buffet and a boxed or buffet lunch.

SAN DIEGO: Andaz San Diego has announced the appointment of Jackie Haus as the property’s new marketing manager. In her new role, Haus will spearhead the property’s marketing and branding efforts as well as events. Haus joins the Andaz San Diego team with vast experience in creative marketing, social media strategy, and branding—both in-house and in a boutique marketing agency setting—for a broad range of clientele, including restaurants, dinner theaters, real estate, industrial companies, and nonprofit organizations.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Michelin Guide has added eight Washington, D.C. restaurants to its 2023 edition. They include Bar Spero in Capital Crossing, Opal in Chevy Chase, Causa in Blagden Alley, and Mandu in Mount Vernon Square. The coveted stars will be announced in the spring.
