NATIONAL: Virtuoso, a leading global network specializing in luxury and experiential travel, revealed the top 2023 travel trends for Canadians. It surveyed more than 500 Canadians and found that 75% listed relaxation, disconnecting, and adventure as their top incentives to take a leisure vacation. The survey showed that 61% preferred beach trips, followed by city explorations with top destinations including Mexico, domestic cities (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary), the U.S. (Orlando; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Las Vegas), Dominican Republic, and the U.K.
CALGARY: Alberta Women Entrepreneurs 2023 Summit will take place on Friday, March 24 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Ross Glen Hall at Mount Royal University. The day includes a breakfast; informative presentations on various topics like gender-based bias and purposeful connections; a presentation from keynote speaker Catherine Rothrock, the chief economist and executive director of the Alberta Treasury Board and Finance; a lunch; and an afternoon focused on entrepreneur learning. MONTREAL: The Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival will take place April 27-30 at Hotel 10. The festival will feature author events and performances in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and other languages like Welsh, Ojibway, ancient Greek, and Innu-aimun. Additionally, a special pre-festival event will take place on April 17 at St. James United Church, where Margaret Atwood will talk about her latest collection of short stories, Old Babes in the Wood. This year, the festival celebrates 25 years with over 140 events for festival goers to attend.
TORONTO: Liberty Entertainment Group has announced that its newest live show, “State of Mind – The Illusion of Choice,” will premiere on April 6 and run through April 30 at Casa Loma. The show features two separate performances that incorporate the audience as a part of the cast. There will be nightly shows Thursday through Sunday, allowing for arrivals at 6:30 p.m, 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. throughout the duration of the show’s run. Tickets are $80 per person and available on Casa Loma’s website.
WINNIPEG: The Inaugural Inspiring Women Awards, which honors outstanding Manitoba women, will take place at Winnipeg Art Gallery on Friday, March 24 from 6:30-11 p.m. Hosted by Manitoba St. Johns NDP MLA, the event will celebrate the outstanding achievements of Manitoba women. The event will feature music by DJ Unknown and DJ Lucky Sharms, a performance by Indian City, and a cash bar.
