GLOBAL: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts—the world’s largest hotel franchisor with 9,100 hotels across more than 95 countries—has announced a new agreement with hotel booking solution Groups360. The partnership allows travelers to make multi-room bookings online instantly at Wyndham hotels. The service is powered by GroupSync, and Wyndham hotels can seamlessly integrate the platform with their hotel reservation systems, allowing groups to score the best rates and see availability ahead of booking.
CALGARY: April is Filipino Restaurant Month in Calgary, and eight restaurants are participating in the city this year. More than 40 restaurants in 18 other cities across Canada will also be participating. For the second annual Filipino Restaurant Month, eateries will be offering prix-fixe menus that celebrate Filipino cuisine, and Calgary restaurants getting in on the fun are Amihan Grill + Bakeshop, Chopstix Filipino Restaurant, Max’s Restaurant, Pacific Hut, Rise N’ Shine Breakfast Place, Barrio Fiesta, Nan’s Noodle House, and Paolo’s.
EDMONTON: Esteemed Edmonton choir Pro Coro Canada is hosting a Good Friday celebration on April 7 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Robertson-Wesley United Church. The annual choral concert invites guests to commemorate the Christian holiday by enjoying works by Bach, Pärt, Gesualdo, Sandström, and Praulins, with Tammy-Jo Mortensen at the organ. The choir will be conducted by Kari Turunen, the artistic director of the professional Vancouver Chamber Choir since 2019. In-person tickets—as well as tickets to enjoy a livestream—are available on Pro Coro Canada’s website.
TORONTO: Fast in the 6 is returning to Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square on April 14 to celebrate diversity with an evening of food, activities, and fireworks. The event is set to start at 7 p.m., and live performances will kick off at 8 p.m. A full lineup of entertainers will be announced on Fast in the 6’s site in the coming weeks. To nod to Fast in the 6’s timing (it’s taking place during the breaking-fast portion of Ramadan), halal meals courtesy of Maple Lodge Farms, Zabiha Halal, and Sobeys/FreshCo will be on offer. Food trucks serving up other cultural cuisines will also be on-site.
VANCOUVER: FEAST! Vancouver Festival is taking place April 11-15 to celebrate top Canadian chefs in support of the BC Cancer Foundation. Guests can expect tastings, immersive dinner experiences, and signature events. Classes guided by F&B experts teaching attendees to make the best of ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails will also be on offer. Tickets for FEAST! Vancouver Festival are available online, and start at $55 for a signature event, $85 for an expert class, or $125 for a dinner series.
