CANADA: The Chilliwack Tulip Festival, Earth Day Celebrations, Canada’s Largest Plant-Based Event Returns, and More

NATIONAL: EUREKA! The California Wine Discovery event is headed to Canada to take Canadians on a tour of California’s top 100 wineries. The educational, hands-on event is headed to Toronto’s Beanfield Centre on May 8, and Montreal’s Le Grand Quai on May 10. Attendees can expect wine tastings, of course—more than 400 blends from 100-plus wineries will be on offer—as well as meet-and-greets with California’s renowned and up-and-coming sommeliers, food pairings, and educational sessions exploring California’s Sustainability Program. Tickets are available on the event’s website.

CHILLIWACK, B.C.: The Chilliwack Tulip Festival is returning to the British Columbia city as of April 19 for its 17th year. The fest is a celebration of springtime with more than 6 million tulips in bloom across 20 acres of land for revelers to enjoy. There will be 30 tulip varieties, 16 types of daffodils, and five types of hyacinths, which will also be available for purchase. On-site merchandise for sale will also include seeds, souvenirs, and food from vendors. The Chilliwack Tulip Festival will run for up to four weeks, depending on the weather. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time via the festival’s website to attend.

TORONTO: Exhibition Place has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, joining a global movement of businesses committed to creating a sustainable future for the tourism industry. This pledge demonstrates Exhibition Place’s commitment to improving the sustainability performance of its business between now and 2030 in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. VANCOUVER: The City of Surrey is celebrating Earth Day (April 22) by hosting its 12th annual Party for the Planet on April 29. Presented by TD, the event is taking place at Surrey Civic Plaza, and will be action-packed with local vendors, live performances, and family friendly activities. The free event will kick off at 11 a.m., and the on-site Earth Stage will host dance battles, while environmental workshops will take place on the Community Stage and children’s entertainment is slated for the Family Stage.

Canada’s largest plant-based event, Planted Expo, is returning to Vancouver May 27-28 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre, guests can expect more than 200 vegan and plant-based vendors to be in attendance offering food and drink samples galore. Industry leaders will also partake in sessions that will address the plant-based movement. Tickets are available on Planted Expo Vancouver’s website, for $21.47 for one day and $26.84 for two days.
