CANADA: Discover Halifax's New Campaign, Doors Open Ontario, Art Vancouver, and More

GLOBAL: Global events agency emc3 has appointed Natalie Walker as strategy director. The agency has been focused on growing its strategic experience design offering, with a comprehensive suite of workshops covering everything from team alignment to goal-setting, and in-depth research and analysis in several critical areas, such as audience behavior, AI, and emerging technology and sustainable event delivery. Walker initially joined emc3 as a freelancer, then joined the company as an employee in 2021 as their senior content strategist.

EDMONTON: "The Art of Brick," the world's largest display of brick art, is coming to Edmonton. Starting May 5, over 100 works of art by artist Nathan Sawaya—featuring original pieces and reimagined world-famous masterpieces—will be on display. Interactive experiences include LEGO Drag Race, Six Bricks, Hidden Hands, and Free Play. The exhibition will be located at TELUS World of Science - Edmonton.

HALIFAX: With the launch of a new brand campaign, Discover Halifax is extending marketing presence to urban Canadians living within 100 kilometers of an airport with a direct flight to Halifax Stanfield. The campaign is focused outside Atlantic Canada and includes fly markets primarily in Southern Ontario and urban Alberta. The campaign takes intrinsically negative (but relatable) turns-of-phrase about the lives and experiences of potential visitors and depicts Halifax as the "elixir." The campaign leans into the region’s salt water, rocky coast, and fog.

TORONTO: Starting April 29 in Guelph, hundreds of places across the province will open their doors free of charge as part of Doors Open Ontario, an annual program from the Ontario Heritage Trust. The 2023 season will be held over 13 weekends and feature 22 in-person events running from April to October. Every year, visitors to Doors Open events gain rare access to buildings and spaces that are normally closed to the public or sites that normally charge admission. This year, the trust is exploring Ontario's food culture and history. From breweries to farms, Doors Open events will also include sites or special programs that highlight Ontario's culinary and agricultural heritage.

VANCOUVER: Art Vancouver, Western Canada’s largest international art fair, is back May 4-7. Artists and galleries from all over the world will showcase a wide range of contemporary art to the public. Attendees can expect an art runway show on opening night and interactive activities like a live art competition, speaker panels, and art classes. Art Vancouver will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
