CANADA: SBC Summit Barcelona, Ottawa Tourism's New Visitor Pass, CPKC Women’s Open in Vancouver, and More

GLOBAL: Matthew Ball—a metaverse expert, tech authority, media producer, and bestselling author—is set to deliver a keynote address at the upcoming SBC Summit Barcelona 2023 conference and trade show, SBC's biggest event to date. Ball has been slated for an in-person appearance as the opening keynote speaker on Sept. 21, in response to the positive feedback and enthusiasm generated by his digital keynote at the 2022 edition of the show.

OTTAWA: Ottawa Tourism has launched the Visit Ottawa Pass, a virtual attractions pass that rolls admission to seven attractions into one price point and easy-to-use virtual ticket. Visitors can choose between the 1-Day Visit Ottawa Pass, valid for 24 hours after first use ($59 plus tax for adult; $42 plus tax for child), or the 3-Day Visit Ottawa Pass, valid for 72 hours after first use ($94 plus tax for adult; $69 plus tax for child).

TORONTO: Toronto designer Nadia Di Donato, vice president and creative director of Liberty Entertainment Group, has been recognized by the U.K.’s international industry arbiter design et al magazine in its International Hotel & Property Awards 2023 shortlist. The prestigious awards, celebrating their 12th year, are renowned for global design excellence. This year, Di Donato has been nominated for Designer of the Year, one of only 10 candidates globally. 

VANCOUVER: The 2023 edition of the CPKC Women’s Open will be held at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club Aug. 22-27, marking the sixth time the province of British Columbia has hosted Canada’s Women’s Open Championship, with the last time being in 2015 at Vancouver Golf Club, where Lydia Ko won her third CPKC Women’s Open title. As the only Canadian stop across 33 official LPGA Tour events, the weeklong event will draw some of the world’s best players, including 10-time LPGA Tour winner and CP Ambassador Brooke Henderson. 

WINDSOR, ONT.: Windsor-based development company Amico announced that Bois Blanc, its luxury resort on Boblo Island, has reached several milestones in its transformation. This includes improvements made to the landscape and the completion of new roads. The first model home will also be ready for tours in September. Bois Blanc, meaning "White Woods," is the original name of the 272-acre Boblo Island. Located at the mouth of the Detroit River where it flows into Lake Erie, the island was the site of the Boblo Island Amusement Park that operated from 1898 to 1993.
