CANADA: Great Outdoors Comedy Festival, Ontario Place Updates, Harbour Blues 'n Roots Festival, and More

GLOBAL: This summer, the Hong Kong Tourism Board invited international actor Henry Golding, who rose to fame in 2018 starring in Crazy Rich Asians, to embark on an exhilarating trip to Hong Kong. CALGARY: The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival returns to Prince’s Island Park Aug. 26-27. Headliners include Jonathan Van Ness and Andrew Schulz. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales on Aug. 26 will be donated to Accessible Queer Spaces, a fund created to support queer venues, spaces, and events to become accessible to all people in our community. Proceeds from Aug. 27 will go to The Mustard Seed, an organization caring for individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty.

TORONTO: Therme Canada released its newly evolved design for the West Island of Ontario Place, which delivers a year-round family-friendly destination attraction alongside four more acres of public parkland. The update features new areas designed with input from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and also incorporates feedback from public meetings, community engagement, and City of Toronto planning staff. When complete, the Ontario Place public park will become the largest public gathering space on Toronto's western waterfront.

VANCOUVER: The annual Vancouver International Film Festival will take place Sept. 28 to Oct. 8. The event showcases exceptional cinema, and this year's roster will also include talks, conferences, live performances, and other unique events that celebrate film and film culture.

VICTORIA, B.C.: Harbour Blues 'n Roots Festival (formerly Vancouver Island Blues Bash) will take place Aug. 25-27, bringing the sounds of roots, country, world, and folk music. Performances on the main outdoor stage at Ship Point include Samantha Fish featuring Jesse Dayton, Fantastic Negrito, and Allison Russell.
