GLOBAL: ICD Property has signed a deal with globally renowned SH Hotels & Resorts—a sustainable hotel brand management company and an affiliate of global private investment firm Starwood Capital Group—to bring the playful and fun Treehouse Hotel brand to the $400 million Market Square development in South Australia. The announcement comes as hundreds of global hotel delegates descend on Sydney for two high-profile events, HICAP ANZ (Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific Australia New Zealand) and the NoVacancy Hotel + Accommodation Industry Expo.

NATIONAL: Canada continues to experience an unprecedented wildfire season with thousands of Canadians being impacted by widespread evacuations, loss of personal property, and damage to critical infrastructure. In response, Parks Canada is offering free admission and front-country stays in national parks in British Columbia and Alberta to residents who have been forced to evacuate their communities in the Northwest Territories and British Columbia until evacuation orders have been lifted.

MONTREAL: Montréal has been dubbed the world capital of urban agriculture by Laboratoire sur l'agriculture urbaine (AU/LAB) in a recent study comparing 10 international cities. The number and quality of urban farms present in the city were noted among Montreal's most distinctive features, with 57 diversified agricultural businesses committed to the social and circular economy. The city also counts on the presence of the Pousse-Menu farm, which founded the oldest urban farm in the world in 1988.

TORONTO: Fairmont Royal York, in partnership with the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards, announced the second annual edition of "The Grandest Night of Fashion,'' hosted by actress Sarah Rafferty. Taking place Sept. 6, this year's show will once again be held in the hotel's grand lobby and is open to the public, with a new thematic focus that will spotlight the connection between fashion and film. The show specifically will feature five cinematic vignettes, inspired by iconic film looks and interpreted by emerging and established Canadian and global designers.

VICTORIA, B.C.: Out There Art Festival will take place Sept. 1-3 at Jackson Park. The event is a celebration of community and interactive art including live music and an eclectic mix of performances. The event's host, Alter Arts Society, is a registered nonprofit organization run by and for artists, with the goal of building community and connecting artists with audiences.
