Greatest career accomplishment:
With just 12 days until the start of my 500-person event, I received notification that the headquarter hotel, the Sheraton Atlanta, had closed indefinitely due to a Legionnaire’s disease outbreak. In just two days, I was able to work with the CVB and secure a new meeting space, communicate necessary changes to all key stakeholders, collaborate with the exhibits manager on changing the freight shipments and reprint session-schedule booklets with new information for attendees.
Specific improvement I’ve made:
In my role as speaker manager, I noticed many session submissions being submitted by the same speakers as well as many repeat speakers for our annual conference. I suggested hosting a speaker workshop at the event to encourage potential speakers to submit for the upcoming years. The workshop was a great success, drawing in new speakers for the next year and we continue to host this event to this day.
