What I do:
I lead the internal events team that produces almost 40 events in a normal year. In 2020, our team led the industry in designing 10 face-to-face safe meetings amid a pandemic.

How I got here:
I started in event management at Gaylord Hotels, transitioned to sales and sourcing with a startup third party, sold event production alongside MGM Resorts’ global sales team, and, prior to ALHI, led a team of storytellers and artists as the VP of operations at a creative agency.

My greatest career accomplishment:
The first event our team produced during COVID-19 was the ALHI Executive Women in Leadership event at Naples Grande Beach Resort. We had to apply every ounce of grit and grace to host 50 female leaders in the industry. The event was safe and followed protocols, and I got to interview Glennon Doyle live! I was so proud of our team.

I look back on my career with incredible fondness for each step along the way. What I am most proud of is the leap I took switching from an intended career path of education to hospitality at 21 years old. I chased this industry down, and after lots of questions, connections and people that said “yes,” I found my first role at the Gaylord Texan Resort. I am so grateful I was brave enough to ask for something different.

A specific improvement I’ve made:
2020 asked me to become an expert on something that no one had done. I spent hours researching and learning about new guidelines and ideas for events that allow groups to meet while protecting the individual’s wellbeing. I stayed positive and applied innovation to this work and produced events that not only met guidelines but exceeded attendees’ expectations for experiences. We provided a platform to incredible speakers and leaders, and curated moments that people could relax into and connect with one another. I believe that we gave people hope.

What I'm working on right now:
I am producing a full calendar of events in 2021. I am also loving consulting with Delos to launch a safe meetings certificate.

What I do outside of work:
I am master chef of my own kitchen. I love to create my own recipes, and like the challenge of taking what’s in the fridge and pantry and turning it into a masterpiece. I love to take my Jeep out and hike somewhere out of the city.

Favorite vacation destination:
I absolutely love Southern California. I visited Terranea Resort for the first time after I started at ALHI and I truly believe that hotel is magical. Spirit, relaxation and energy can be found in every corner of the property. Their staff is very special, too. They exemplify the kind of energy and radical hospitality we all aspire to have.

Favorite icebreaker line:
What’s the best thing that happened to you this week?

Travel hack:
I got this tip from a fellow hospitality road warrior. I am a yogi and I love to get a flow in when I travel, but the mats are clunky. Sugarmat created a lovely, packable, travel yoga mat that I adore.
