Emily Starr describes herself as balanced, positive and adventurous. Learn more about her.

What I do: I lead and grow a team that is dedicated to CHG's purpose and core values by planning and executing innovating meetings and events while encouraging personal growth and development for all team members. Our team strengthens and enriches CHGs culture by creating experiences and programs that support and engage our people.

How I got here:  A journey of internships in broadcast journalism, public relations and marketing brought me to the nonprofit sector working in marketing and events. After a move to South Florida, I became familiar with CHG and was determined to become a part of this amazing company and their internal events team.

Greatest career accomplishment: I led our 2017 President’s Club program in Maui with 950 attendees. Our team conquered every aspect of the program, but most notably handled the process of providing our people 450 rental cars.

Impressive stats: The number of employees my team services in our Florida offices has more than doubled during the 7.5 years in my role. We had 504 employees at the time I started, and we now have 1,027. Additionally, each year we have a weeklong event dedicated to raising money for our local community. We do this by creating a week of engaging events including live auction, silent auction, poker tournament, food eating contests, exercise classes, flower grams, and more! When I first became a leader on the team in 2015, our Florida offices raised $92,000 prior to the company match. Our 2019 campaign raised $127,000 prior to the match.

Specific improvement I’ve made: I worked with our legal department to formalize and role out a contract guide for our team as well as for other individuals in the organization that handle smaller contracts. Additionally, we created an alcohol guideline policy that ensures each team is following corporate policy for serving to keep our attendees safe.

What I do outside of work: I am a registered yoga teacher 200 hour and KAY certified kids yoga teacher.
