Brittani Menina, CMP, CWP, describes herself as detailed, bold and eager. Learn more about her.
What I do: I oversee the events department that’s charged with executing all aspects of the planning process for university event. I am also responsible for the development, planning and overall full project management of the annual commencement and reception events.
How I got here: I’ve been passionate about the event industry since my first introduction in high school via the Academy of Hospitality of Tourism program. I went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management from Johnson and Wales University Charlotte Campus. Since then, I’ve been on an exciting career path with a diverse portfolio ranging from intimate affairs to large high-profile customized events for both domestic and international audiences.
Greatest career accomplishment: I traveled to Lima, Peru for the inaugural opening of its state bank building to organize and execute seven of the World Bank Group's historic events during their annual meetings. It was my first time conducting pre-cons in a hard hart!
Impressive stats: I’ve negotiated with all the commencement vendors resulting in a $15,000 decrease in cost while being able to enhance and focus on the overall experience. This has resulted in an increase of attendance by 20% to our reception event.
What I do outside of work: I hold membership with MPI’s Potomac Chapter as a volunteer on the Career Development Committee. Through MPI, I co-facilitate the chapter’s CMP prep course and boot camp classes.
