Radar Magazine's Kind-of Launch Party

Everyone's on a budget these days, so instead of a big, bright party to launch the much-hyped new magazine Radar, the title debuted in conjunction with a Henri Bendel party promoting a group of young fashion designers. The mag's founder Maer Roshan co-hosted the party, but Bendel's in-house creative team, which produced the event at the Midtown store, only gave one nod to the mag—an image of the first issue's cover near the elevator. (With all the press comparing Radar to Talk, it was probably wise to forgo an over-the-top launch party like the one that premiered that late mag.) The party was neither too big, nor too bad (picture a run-of-the-mill cocktail party in a space accented with neon lights). But it did have another tacked-on element. The catering had a Mexican theme—quesadillas from Taste and margaritas—that probably had more to do with sponsor Gran Centenario tequila than Radar or Henri Bendel. And the oddest touch was that the party didn't have copies of the magazine.
