* INCOMING *

1. OSCAR PRODUCER RESIGNS: Brett Ratner has bowed out as producer of the Oscar telecast under heavy pressure from the academy after he made a gay slur and talked about his sex life in a raunchy interview on Howard Stern's show. In a statement on Tuesday, he wrote: "I called Tom Sherak this morning and resigned as a producer of the 84th Academy Awards telecast. Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career. But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distraction from the Academy and the high ideals it represents."

Los Angeles Times: "It was not immediately clear whether Ratner's handpicked host, Eddie Murphy, would also leave the show, scheduled for late February."

2. VERSACE'S H&M DEBUT: From contributor Jim Shi: Last night Versace debuted its highly -anticipated collection for H&M (out November 19) with a multi-faceted sensory experience that treated 700 guests to a cocktail party, seated fashion show, live concert by Nicki Minaj and Prince, and an on-site dedicated pop-up store. It was one of the more memorable fashion events to take place in New York in recent memory. KCD produced the event at Pier 57 (dubbed "Versace for H&M Hall on the Hudson) and custom built multiple hallways and rooms within the raw space, covering one with mirrors and another with massive palm tree motifs complemented by disco balls and a custom built stage.

3. PRIVATE JETS COME BACK: CNN reports that in 2012 flying in a private jet won't only be for the rich. "As major airlines are hiking airfares and cutting routes, and long lines at security and delayed flights weigh on travelers, private jet carriers are seeing the first increase in demand since 2008."

4. QUICKIE SPA TREATMENTS: CNN Travel says that spas are now offering shorter treatment options to appeal to time-starved and budget-conscious business travelers: "Business travelers who are meeting or staying here will ask for something quick that they can receive immediately, possibly between sessions or after meetings, but before dinner," says Lola Roeh, general manager of the Aspira Spa at the Osthoff Resort in Wisconsin. "They do not want to wait and they do not reserve their services ahead of time. As a result, we have developed 25-minute options for many services."
