CANADA: Hockey's All-Star Classic Postponed, Deadmau5 Plans a Drive-In Concert, and More

NATIONAL: Bustld, an online wedding-planning resource, recently launched a new service called LoveStream. LoveStream is a virtual wedding platform that allows couples to livestream their big day to family and friends with one-click stream access, eliminating the need to download an app, log in, or mess with the mute button. Guests can comment along with the stream and sign a virtual guestbook.

CALGARY: MFA candidates and undergraduate students from the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts have collaborated to present new short children’s plays at the Springboard Performance’s ContainR site. The shows will be socially distanced every Thursday and Sunday from July 26 to Aug. 30. It is a "pay what you can" event.

EDMONTON: Fringe Festival organized a live telethon event on Wednesday in place of the 39th annual, in-person festival that had been planned for Aug. 13-23. The event was hosted by artistic director Murray Utas and featured local theater celebrities including Edmonton Fringe founder Brian Paisley and Fringe favorite Andrea House. Fringe hoped to raise one million dollars for artists and next year's festival. 

MONTREAL: The 2021 American Hockey League All-Star Classic in Laval will be postponed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. AHL's usual start date in October has been delayed, with the NHL's 2020-21 season also expected to be postponed. The All-Star Classic was scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at Place Bell. The newest dates for the 2022 event have yet to be announced. 

TORONTO: Deadmau5, the Grammy Award-nominated electronic music producer, will hold a drive-in concert on Aug. 14 and 15. The event will be an entirely contactless experience at CityView in the parking lot of 20 Polson Street.
