INDUSTRY NEWS: Experiential events, exhibits, and expositions company Hargrove has hired Scott Finlayson as the new senior vice president of operations. Most recently the C.O.O. for Blue Man Group, Finlayson started his career at the Disneyland Resort in California as the manager of operations, stage shows, parades and fireworks, stage management, and talent operations. He later served as the director of entertainment operations for Universal Studios Hollywood.
DETROIT: Longtime Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau C.O.O. Michael O’Callaghan has revealed plans to retire at year’s end. The destination executive, who also serves as executive vice president of the bureau, has been at the helm of the organization for 21 years.
LOS ANGELES: The 85-year-old Original Farmers Market has welcomed eight new vendors. Green Maya, Itty’s Cheese, Temecula Olive Oil Company, WL Handmade, and WildFlora are now open, and Marilyn’s Seafood Market and Restaurant, Rick’s Produce, and Kaylin & Hobbs Pickles are slated to open in the coming months.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Greystone Miami Beach, a 1930s boutique hotel, will reopen in January following an extensive renovation. The adults-only property will feature 91 guest rooms and is pet friendly.
NEW YORK: BUILD Series by Yahoo and In The Know will host “The Holidays Now & Wow” event on December 20 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the BUILD Studio. In-studio attendees will have the opportunity for meet and greets, free swag, and gift giveaways, while online viewers can shop products via the shoppable livestream.
