CHICAGO: Chef and humanitarian José Andrés has partnered with Gibsons Restaurant Group to open a trio of restaurants at 110 North Wacker Drive, which is slated to become the city’s tallest office tower, according to Food & Wine. Plans call for a fine-dining restaurant and an elevated cocktail bar, and the group will provide catering for the building’s 10,000-square-foot event space.

LOS ANGELES: The 10th anniversary CORE Gala takes place January 15. Previously known as J/P Haitian Relief Organization, actor Sean Penn’s disaster relief nonprofit has been expanded to CORE: Community Organized Relief Effort, now raising money for the Caribbean and the United States in addition to Haiti. Last year's event raised $3.5 million.

The 70th Annual ACE Eddie Awards will be held January 17 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Filmmakers Nick Cassavettes and Jason Reitman and Marvel Studios producer and president Kevin Feige will be among the presenters.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: On March 16, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will host the 53rd Annual Golf Classic. Taking place at the Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, the event will honor Charles “Bebe” Rebozo.

NEW YORK: Ed Filipowski, a PR executive who WWD said was “one of fashion’s most important and influential media relations personalities of the past 30 years,” died Friday. The 58-year-old co-chairman and chief strategist at KCD passed away at his home due to complications stemming from a recent surgery, according to his firm. KCD’s portfolio of clients featured the top names in fashion, including Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano at Maison Margiela, Versace, Givenchy, Tory Burch, and a host of others. WWD: “'As co-chairman and chief strategist of KCD, Ed led the global agency for over 30 years and leaves a legacy as a champion of the fashion industry with his unbridled optimism and spirit,' according to a statement released by KCD Friday afternoon."

Production Resource Group has hired Fred Strickland as vice president of scenic technologies in the company’s corporate events unit. He joins the firm after nearly 30 years at Hargrove.

WASHINGTON: Atlanta-based Gypsy Kitchen is opening a new location this spring. The eatery will serve pan-Mediterranean small plates, highlighting Greek, Moroccan, Indian, and Middle Eastern flavors, among other regional influences.
