NATIONAL: On Oct. 4, The Young and The Restless star Kate Linder will host the virtual "OpportuniTea" event for March of Dimes Canada's Conductive Education Program. Fans will be able to ask questions to their favorite soap opera actors and bid on exclusive auction items. The event replaces the Calgary-based "OpportuniTea with Kate Linder & Friends" in-person fundraiser, which has been tentatively rescheduled for spring 2021.
Gabrielle's Angel Foundation will hold a virtual disco-theme event on Sept. 15 with performances from Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, Patti LaBelle, and more. The Studio 54-inspired evening will raise funds for cancer research and include a luxury online auction on CharityBuzz.com.
MONTREAL: The PHI Centre is hosting its Sonication concert series on Aug. 22, with live sets from Les Louanges and Random Recipe. The free, rooftop events will feature filmed sets that are broadcast on large screens; there will be a bar serving cocktails plus socially distanced seating. Fans can also watch a livestream from home.
TORONTO: From Sept. 5-6, Eats Night Market will take over the Scarborough Town Centre. The new food fest from Street Eats Market will feature international fare; it's free to attend, and social distancing measures will be in effect.
VANCOUVER: Uptown Village bar Thirsty Sasquatch will reopen in late September following a $400,000 renovation and expansion. Highlights will include a large patio accessible via a sliding glass garage door; the patio will span 2,000 feet, hold 70 people, and feature multiple fire pits.
