NATIONAL: “IllumiNATION,” a virtual celebration of Canadian stars, runs until Jan. 7. During each live broadcast on the Canada heritage website, CBC/Radio Canada host Gregory Charles will be introducing artists in cities across the country, including French-Canadian pop star Annie Villeneuve, American-Canadian singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, and Food Network Canada star and executive chef Katie Ardington.

EDMONTON: The Brick, a subsidiary of Leon’s Furniture Limited, has raised $467,956 for Children’s Miracle Network, in part through a recent virtual “Cooking for Kids" event with chef David Rocco. During the event last month, participants across Canada learned to prepare some of Rocco’s favorite recipes from home.
TORONTO: The MATZOBALL Online, an online speed-dating event for Jewish singles, will take place Dec. 24 in 23 cities (including Toronto) across five countries. The upcoming event, which is being held virtually for the first time, has already broken the Guinness World Record for the largest speed-dating event, with more than 1,000 people registered.
VANCOUVER: On Saturday night, seven local comedians teamed up to raise funds for Kino Cafe on Cambie Street, home to Vancouver’s longest-running comedy night. “A Kino Christmas” featured comics performing from their living rooms in an effort to raise funds for the struggling venue.
