INTERNATIONAL: The next edition of IMEX, slated to take place in Frankfurt from May 25-27, has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. The conference for the global meetings industry typically draws exhibitors and buyers from more than 150 countries. Organizers still hope to host IMEX America in Las Vegas from Nov. 9-11, 2021, as well as the 20th anniversary of IMEX in Frankfurt from April 25-28, 2022.
NIAGARA FALLS: Light of Day Canada, an annual fundraising concert for Parkinson’s disease research that typically takes place in Niagara Falls, will host a two-night virtual festival from Feb. 19-20. More than 40 artists will perform, including Willie Nile, Miss Emily, Joe D’Urso E Street Band’s Jake Clemons and past headliner John Cafferty.
REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN: The 2022 Skate Canada Challenge will take place at Evraz Place in Regina from Dec. 1-5, 2021. More than 500 skaters are expected to participate in the event. The 2021 Skate Canada Challenge was held virtually.
VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will host a virtual gala concert Feb. 18. Dubbed The Show Must Go On: Stories of Resilience, the event will be hosted by Steve Maddock and feature special guests including Rush frontman Geddy Lee, country singer K.D. Lang, Barenaked Ladies singer Steven Page and more.
The Hilton Vancouver Downtown opens this month in the former Westin Grand Hotel space. The 216-room hotel, the first Hilton property in downtown Vancouver, features 4,000 square feet of meeting space and a year-round outdoor pool.
