NATIONAL: The Womxn, Wellness and Cannabis Conference (WWC Conference) takes place May 26-27. The largest free event of its kind aims to unite women globally for two days of female-led panel discussions, Q&As and keynotes. The virtual event will feature over 80 speakers from four continents; it’s hosted by Toronto-based cannabis and marketing firm Marigold PR, in association with Lift & Co. Expo, North America’s largest cannabis industry conference and tradeshow.
Kids Help Phone hosted a fundraising special, Dance + More for Tomorrow powered by BMO, on Sunday. Hosted by Etalk's Tyrone Edwards, the virtual event raised awareness around the mental health crisis facing young people during the COVID-19 pandemic. It marked the 20th year of Kids Help Phone's annual national fundraiser, which had previously been held as an in-person walk.
SASKATOON: Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canada’s Elite Cup Series will return to Saskatoon from Oct. 29-30. The PBR Saskatoon Classic will take place at the SaskTel Centre, and will include safety protocols such as limited capacity, physical distancing, digital ticketing and more.
ST. JOHN’S: This summer’s Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival will feature small, live performances in and around St. John's, as well as a digital series in the fall. The festival begins on July 9 with a series of concerts at the First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity; more details are expected to be announced soon.
VANCOUVER: Two Granville Island businesses have teamed up for a 10-day pop-up tasting event in Gastown, running from May 14-24. Granville Island Brewing is showcasing its new Peach Sour brew, while Lee’s Donuts has created a limited-edition Peach Crumble inspired by the drink; there’s also a custom-curated, peach-themed playlist. The free event is open to the public, but online reservations are required and donations for the Vancouver Food Bank are encouraged.
